LPJS LONDON EPEE
Busy weekend for the Salle Paul epeeists at the Veterans National Championships, which was also the second of the three GB selection events for the Vets World Individuals and European Team Championships. Best result was Hugh’s 7th in the combined age group event, and 2nd in his age group. This has moved him up to top of the selection table for the Worlds and Euros. Graham came 8th overall but 3rd in his age group. Ten other men club members took part but it’s fair to say most were disappointed with their results.
The women did much better overall. Denise 5th , Mariette 13th and Janet 27th in the combined age groups gave them respective placings of 4th, 5th and 3rd in their own age groups, and therefore in good positions going into the 3rd qualifying event at Manchester later this month. Many thanks also due to Bence for attending and advising.
If there was a club Master-of-Arms prize for the weekend it would go to Glenn who took part in all three events. No official or unofficial results for the sabre or foil have yet been published, however Graham won his age category in the foil, and Rubin came 3rd overall in the sabre.
EUROPEAN VETERAN FENCING - KIEV, UKRAINE
Sophie Saudo travelled to Kiev in Ukraine, placing 2nd in the European
Veterans Circuit event, hopefully improving her chances of selection for the
French team in the Veteran European team championships later this year – and
winning a t-shirt, plate and blade.
