CLUB OFFICIALS
JON WILLIS
CLUB DIRECTOR
Jon is a two-time World Cup winner and multiple British Champion. As part of his international career Jon spent 3 years living and training in Heidenheim, Germany. He is now the Club Director of Salle Paul, as well as being the Events Manager for British Fencing. As well as his role of Club Director, he is also known to occassionally be on the piste wearing a coaching jacket giving individual lessons.
BARRY PAUL
CLUB PRESIDENT
Former Olympic fencer and multiple British Champion, Barry was the third generation of Paul family to run the Leon Paul Equipment Company. We don’t see Barry on the piste very much anymore in a competitive sense but, when in London, Barry can be found taking the lesson from one of the club coaches. A place where Barry is always seen is behind the grill of the annual Summer Salle Paul Club BBQ.
TARA SOOD
LEAD WELFARE OFFICER
Tara is our lead welfare officer at Salle Paul. If you have any safeguarding concerns regarding children or vulnerable adults at the club, please talk to her of any of our other welfare officers. As well as her welfare role Tara also helps to manage Paul’s cafe, our parent-run competition food stand complete with sandwiches, snack, hot drinks and home-made meals.
PETE EAMES
CLUB SECRETARY
Pete has been fencing since 1974, during which time he has won county, regional, junior and open competitions. Since training at Salle Paul, Pete has fenced in two Veteran World Championships. As club secretary, Pete checks in and looks after the needs of members and visitors to the club. When not working he enjoys researching his family tree and taking city breaks.
