Sussex Open
We had nine Salle Paul fencers competing across three weapons at the Sussex Open.
One of the highlights was Florin Mirica’s GOLD medal. He went all up in the poules. He had a bye to the L64, then defeated Norbert Barany, Jamie Richards, George Carpenter and Ieon Kamstra to make the medal rounds. He won his semi-final in a dominant display against Vladimir Kukharev with a score of 15-5. Florin then won the final against Lionel De Swarte-Danko to claim the gold medal.
Congratulations to Florin and his coaches for this brilliant achievement.

U14 EFC Sofia
Solu Ngoka competed in the Boy’s U14 Epee event in Sofia, where he won the SILVER medal.
He went all up in the poules. Seeded fourth going into DE’s, Solu had a bye to the L32. He then defeated Dakov (BUL), Leibovich (ISR) and Kurtakov (BUL) to make the semi-finals. Here he faced first seed, Vasilev (BUL). Solu successfully put the match away 15-12 to make the finals. He lost against Sadowy (POL) to claim the silver medal.
Congratulations to Solu for another inspiring performance. Thank you to coach Sam for supporting him throughout the day.

In the U12 Men's Sabre, Aaron Zhang won a bronze medal. He won five and lost three in the poules. Seeded sixth, Aaron had a bye to the L16. He beat Oscar Harford and Maximilian Biondic to make the top 4. He then lost to Joseph Bennett.
In the U14 Men's Sabre, Bijan Muganwa won a bronze medal. He went five up, two down in the poules. Seeded fourth, he beat Finlay Thomas and Sebastian Jago to make the medal rounds. He then lost to Scott-Robinson Alfred.

Edmund Dawson won the SILVER medal in the U10 Boys Foil. He won all eight matches in the poule round. Seeded first, he had a bye to the L16. Edmund defeated Oliver Vickery, Alex Wouters and Alexander Hunjan to make the finals. Here he lost against Nathan Xie to take silver.
In the U14 Boys Foil, Felix Berndorfer won the BRONZE medal. In the poules, Felix won five and lost one. He had a bye to the L16, then defeated Valentine Wallin and Arthur O’Donnell to make the semi-finals. He lost to Raphael Bertrand with a score of 15-11 to take home the bronze medal.
