Veteran World Championships

Georgina Usher Defends World Championship Title
Georgina Usher started the day off with six victories in poules, only dropping four hits. Seeded first in the tableau, she defeated Renuka Ramroop (RSA), Ynet van der Veen (NED), Nathalie Vandewalle (BEL), and Sandra Laisney (FRA) to make the semi finals. In the semi-finals, she defeated Annalisa Avancina (ITA) 10-6, then proceeded to win the finals 10-4 against Gianna Habluzel-Burki (SUI). 

Hugh Kernohan went all up in poules. After a bye, Hugh won against Olaf Hartman (HUN), Greerson McMullen Sr (GBR), and Bratislava Ohrablo (SCK) to make the L8 where he was defeated by Achim Bellmann (GER). 


Georgina took part in the team event as part of team GBR. They received a bye through the L16, then lost their L8 match to team USA.
Hugh competed as part of team GBR as well. The men's epee team won their L16 against New Zealand and their L8 against Italy, before losing to Germany in the semi-finals. They then rallied to defeat Poland and claim bronze. 

Congratulations to Hugh for his team bronze medal, and congratulations to Georgina for her second world championship title.

West Coast Challenge

Jessica Beechey took part in the team event as part of team GBR 2. The team had a bye through the L16 and won their L8 against Sweden 1. They won their semi-final against Great Britain 1, but then narrowly lost the finals against team Czechia, 43-45. 

Ashley Crees went 6V0D in his poule. He had a bye through the first round, then defeated Martin Medvedev (NED) and Jonathan Kong (SWE) before being eliminated by Mahel Boumaza (FRA) in the L16. Yaqub Wagdi went 5V0D. He won his first DE against Krystof Novak (CZE) but was defeated in the L32 by Leo Blanchard (FRA).  Aiden Robinson went 5V1D in poules. He won his L64 against Arlo Barthelemy (FRA) but was eliminated the following round by Vigo Andre Leloup (FRA).

British U23 Epee Championships


Tristan Lumineau is the British U23 champion!
Tristan won all of his poule fights, which gave him a bye through the first round of DEs. He then went of to beat William Peach, Toby Moore, Noah Goryn and Cheney Zhu to reach the final. He defeated Sameer Sunder-Rajan in the final, 15-9. James Gowen went 4V1D in the poules, which also gave him a bye. James then won against Vladimir Kukharev, Jim Green and Joseph Walmsley to reach the semi-final, where he was defeated by Sameer Sunder-Rajan.


Eleanor Taylor won Bronze! Eleanor won all of her poule fights so got a bye into the L32. She then won against Kira Grahamslaw  and Chloe Johnson before losing to Imogen Bulman in the semi-finals. Rachael Lever also won all of her poule fights so had a bye. Racheal won against Kate Haswell, but then had to withdraw from the competition. Juliet Lumineau went 2V4D in the poules so fenced Mya Debbinney-Wright in the first round. After winning this fight, Juliet won against Olivia Eadie but then lost to Harriet Hiller in the next round.

Congratulations to Tristan on his championship title, and to James and Eleanor for their bronze medals! Thank you to Roman for supporting the fencers over the weekend.
