European Junior Championships

Tristan Lumineau and the GBR junior men's epee team won gold at the European Championships

In the individual event, Tristan Lumineau went 4V2D in the round of poules and had a bye through L128. In the following round, he lost to Danil Safin (FRA). 

Keira Donnelly-Sallows went 4V2D in the round of poules. In L64, she defeated Anastasia Tsanava (GEO) 15-9, but then lost to Valeriia Morenets-Kubanska (UKR) in the 32. 

Juliet Lumineau went 2V4D in the round of poules and was promoted to the tableau. In the first round, she lost to Aliaksandra Mishyna (AIN). 

Tristan Lumineau also participated in the team tournament as a part of team GBRTeam GBR won a gold medal in Junior Team Men's Epee. Team GBR had a bye through L32. In the following rounds, team GBR defeated Ukraine and Italy and made it to the semi-finals, where they defeated Spain and went to the finals. In the finals, team GBR defeated France 45-44, securing the the championship title. 

Keira Donnelly-Sallows also participated in the team tournament as a part of team GBR.Team GBR defeated Türkiye in L16. In the following round, team GBR lost to France, and fenced in the 5-8 tableau. They won their match against Greece but then lost against Italy, taking 6th place overall.

Juliet Lumineau also participated in the team tournament as a part of team GBR. Team GBR had a bye through the L32. In the following round, women's team GBR lost to Spain. The team then withdrew from the 9-16 tableau matches due to injury. 

Eiger Swinscow fenced in the team tournament as a part of team GBR. Team GBR, had a bye through the L32. In L16, team GBR lost to Hungary, and fenced for places 9 to 16. They won over the Netherlands and Ukraine, but were then defeated by Spain and took 10th place. 

Congratulations to Tristan Lumineau and the GBR Junior Men's Epee Team for their European Championship title.

The Salle Paul and Project athletes would have also seen a familiar face in Antalya, as Leon Paul's own Jon Willis was selected by the EFC to be head of DT at the European  Championships.

London Region Youth Championships

Elite Epee Moulton

Will Ferguson won bronze! Will went 3V2D in poules. In the tableau, he won successive matches against John Prime, Will Sturgeon, Oliver Walmsley, and Samuel Ewart to reach the semi-finals, where he was lost to Hugo Smith. 
James Gowen won 3 and lost 2 in poules. He won against Darryl Hazelwood in the 64, Rudi Bruijn-Yard in the 32, and Harry Palmer in the 16. His match in the L8 was against Antoine Belot; a 15-11 loss for James.
Luca Pellegrinello also went 3 and 2 in poules. He won his 64 against Etienne de Burgh, but then lost to Gregory Allen in the 32. 
John Prime went 3V3D in poules. He drew clubmate Will Ferguson in the 64, and was knocked out 10-15.
David Mina went 1V5D in poules. He went up against Vadim Marks in the 64, and was eliminated 15-8.

Elite Epee Junior Series

Cyrus Lee took bronze! He went 4V2D in the round of poules and had a bye through L64. In the following round he went against Alexander Lilov-hood and won 15-7. In L16, he defeated Leonardo Varkey 13-12, and Louis Verghis 15-11 and made it to the semi-finals. In the semi-final round, he lost to Bintong Wang and secured his third position. 

Yifan Zhu won gold! He had a bye through the round of poules and through the L16. In L8, he defeated Marvin Lit Hang Tang 10-1 and made it to the semi-finals, where he defeated Pietro Revedin Di San Martino 10-7. In the finals, he went against Nick Yin and defeated him 10-2, securing his first position. 

Kaeto Ngoka went 2V2D in the round of poules. In the first round, she was defeated by Bridget Chan. 

Xanthe Trim went 2V4D in the round of poules and made it to the tableau. In L32, she defeated Luca Zora Kovacs 12-10. In the following round, she lost to Alma Denis-Smith.

Pisa World Cup

Huge congratulations to Gemma Collis on winning silver and bronze medals at Pisa World Cup! 

Gemma Collis was exempted from the poule rounds, and went straight into the DE rounds because of the competition format. 

Gemma Collis had a bye through the L32. In the L16, she fenced against Clemence Delavoipiere (FRA) and won 15-4. In the following round, she defeated Ka Man Lam (HKG) 15-4 and made it to the semi-finals where she defeated Marta Fidrych (POL) 15-5 and went into the finals. In the final round, she lost to Hyo Kyeong Kwon (KOR), securing the second position. 

Gemma Collis had a bye through the L32. In L16, she fenced against Senay Guner (TUR) and won 15-12. In the following round, she went against Gvantsa Zadishvili (GEO) and won 15-13 and made it to the semi-finals. in the smei-finals, she lost to Kinga Drozdz (POL) securing the third position.

LPJS London Foil

Quince Fung went 3V2D in the round of poules and had a bye through L64. In the L32, he defeated Ethan Pile 9-5. In the following round, he lost to Horace Fong. 

Sofia Shoker went 3V2D in the round of poules and had a bye through the L64. In the following round, she lost to Sophie Banham. 

William Maiden won bronze! He went 5V1D in the round of poules. In the L16, he went against Benjamin Staple and won 10-5. In the following round, he fenced against Mika Schumacher, won 10-4 and made his way to the semi-finals where he lost to Alexander Hunjan, securing his third position. Al-Husain Sabri went 2V4D in the round of poules. In the first round, he lost to Mika Schumacher. 

Yousif Wagdi went 3V3D in the round of poules and made it to the DE rounds. In the L32, he fenced against Frederick Mirsky and won 10-7. In the following round, he lost to Max Qin. Edmund Dawson went 4V1D in the round of poules but lost to Ernest Ollendorff in the tableau. 

Iman Ojukutu-Macauley went 2V4D in poules. In the L16, she fenced against Madeline Price and won 10-5. In the L8, she lost to Yan Yu Joie Lan. 

Persephone Dawson went 3V2D in the round of poules and had a bye through the L32, but then lost to Emilia Osorio-Setchell in the L16.

Tudor Prutica won bronze! He went all up in poules and had a bye through the L32. In the L16, he defeated Jamaal Ibn Mahbub 15-11. In the L8, he went against Lucas Ngai and won 15-10 and made his way to the semi-finals where he lost to Dominik Juras and secured his third position. Felix Berndorfer went 5V1D in poules. In the L32, he fenced against Samuel Richards and won 15-10. In the following round, he won against Justin Imankerdjo Lambert, then lost to Dominik Juras in his next DE.

BVF Age Group Championships 2025

Ioan Cimpean went 2V7D in the poule unique, taking 8th in the vet-40 foil.

Graham Paul went 3V4D in the round of poules, placing 5th in the vet-70 men's sabre.

Giuseppe Cotugno won a silver medal! He went 8V3D in the round of poules, placing second in the vet-40 men's epee. 

Jeremy Baker went 5V1D in the round of poules and had a bye through the 32. In the 16, he fenced against Nigel Middleton and won 10-6. In the following round, he lost to Will Miller. Hugh Kernohan went 4V1D in the round of poules and also had a bye through the L32. In the L16, he fenced against Pete Eames and won 10-5, but then lost to Neale Thomas. Simon Pink went 5V1D in the round of poules and also had a bye through the L32. In his first DE, he lost to James Fleming-Fido. Philip Jordan went 4V2D in the round of poules. After his bye through the 32, he lost to Matthew Chell. Pete Eames went 1V5D in the round of poules. In the 32, he fenced against Simon Brock and won 10-5 before being eliminated by Hugh Kernohan. Simon Brock went 2V3D in the round of poules, but was eliminated by clubmate Pete Eames in the 32.

Georgina Usher won gold! She won all her matches in the poule unique of 9, dropping only 10 hits and ending the poule with an indicator of +30, comfortably securing gold.

BUCS Team Championships

Both Nottingham University men's and women's 1st teams won the BUCS team championships last week, prevailing over Durham's first teams. 

The men's team had Salle Paul fencers Florin Mirica and James Gowen on the roster, in addition to the team captain and Salle Paul foilist Oliver Strange. 

The women's team lineup included Salle Paul foilist Eleanor Knox and epeeist Rachael Lever. 

Congratulations to Florin, James, Oli, Eleanor and Rachael on their championship win!


East Midlands Senior Championships

James Gowen won a gold medal! He had a bye through the round of poules and also through the L32. In L16, he fenced against Myles Fay and won 15-6. In the following round, he defeated Isabella -Andreea Niculai and won 15-7 and made it to the semi-finals where he defeated Wilf Horton 15-4. reaching the finals. In the final round, he went against Scott Willis and won 15-11, securing the first position.

Tudor Prutica
won bronze! He won all his poule rounds, and had a bye through the L256. In  the 128, he fenced against Vilmos Delacasse (HUN), winning 15-9. He then defeated Adam Balint (HUN) 15-11, Antoni Sandowski-Markiewicz (POL) 15-14, Botond Sajtos (HUN) 15-7, and Ethan Li (GBR) 15-13. In the semi-final round, he lost to Dominik Juras (LTU) and secured third. Oskar Picton-Tully went 5V1D in the round of poules and had a bye through the L256. In the L128, he fenced against Ezra Gitberg (BUL) and won 15-3. Aaron Zhang went 3V3D in the round of poules and made it to the tableau. In L128, he went out to Lonut Sarau (ROU). 
Matthew Yeremeyev won all his poule rounds and had a bye through the L128. He won his first DE against Hunor Lerchner (HUN) 12-8, but then lost to Vitalii Nedopas (UKR). 

Sophia Chiesa won all her poule rounds, and had bye to the 64 where she won against Hamiyet Zeynep Sezerer (TUR) 12-9. She then defeated Ayla Kayisi (GER) 12-11 in the 32. and  Eleni Anastasiou (GRE) 12-6 in the 16. In the L8, she was eliminated by Kai Osminkina-Jones (USA).

Public School Fencing Championship

Solu Ngoka won gold! He won all his poule rounds and had a bye through the L128. In the following rounds, he won against Kai Morgan 15-2, Mateo Elliott 15-6, and Alec Hargreaves 15-2 then it to the semi-finals where he defeated Harrison Du Hampton 15-13. In the finals, he won against Henry De Bono securing gold. Jonathan Law went 3V1D in the round of poules and had a bye through L128. In the L64, he fenced against George Cox and won 15-3. In the L32, he defeated James Newton 15-5before being eliminated by Harrison Du Hampton. Jack Beckley won all his poule rounds and had a bye through L128. In the L64, he defeated Anton Sidorov 15-11, then lost to Henry De Bono. Harry Roberts went 6V2D in the round of poules and had a bye through L128. In L64, he won against Valentine Wallin 15-8before losing to Harrison Du Hampton in the 32. 

In the foil, Harry Roberts won all his matches in the round of poules and also had a bye through the 64. He fenced against Kairav Lachman and won 15-10 in the 32, but then lost to Ethan Li. 

Emma Mitzova won a gold! She won all her poule rounds and had a bye through the L64. She defeated Samantha Yap 15-4, Dora Ji 15-5,  Lucy Ma 15-5 and made it to the semi finals where she won against Thea Tchalenko 15-13. In the finals round, she faced Lucy Fielding, winning 15-7 and securing first place.

Harry Roberts won silver! He won all his matches in poules. After his bye through the 64, he defeated Slava Kim 15-13, Luz Habenicht 15-13, Luca Brindle 15-5 and made it to the semi-finals where he won against Aidan Garcia Ghuran 15-14. In the finals, he lost to George Lucas, taking second. William Lee won bronze! He won all his poule fights and had a bye through the L64. He defeated Felix Jenkins 15-11, Kent Kubo 15-6, and Sarang Shankar 15-10. In the semi-finals, he lost to George Lucas, securing bronze. 

Aidan Lee won gold! He won all his poule matches and had a bye to the 32, where he won against Harry Croxby 15-7. In the following rounds, he won against Viliam Gordon 15-4, Alban Hill 15-5, and Clarence Lau 15-7. He defeated Aum Khurana 15-9 in the finals and claimed the gold medal. Charlie Jorgeson went 3V1D in the round of poules and had a bye through L64. In L32, he defeated Mariano Gruszka Baltazar 15-9. In L16, he won against Demir Memisoglu 15-14, but then lost to Clarence Lau.

Romanian Epee Championships

Florin Mirica won gold in the Romanian U23 Championships! He went 5V1D in the round of poules and had a bye through the L64. He won against Stefan Baciu in the 32, Stefan Popa in the 16, and Albert Baloi in the 8. He won his semi against Alexandru Stoica 15-12, and finally defeated Marton Mezinger in the finals to tea the title of Romanian U23 Epee Champion.

Salma Wagdi won bronze! She won all her poule rounds and had a bye through the L16. In the L8, she defeated Avina Mirzaee 10-6 and got into the semi-finals where she fenced against Marli Thompson and won 10-8. In the finals, she lost to Sereena Wan Tao So, securing second. 

Samuele Balan Cornaglia went 2V2D in the round of poules and made it to the tableau. In the L16, he fenced against Ezra Meszaros and won 10-1. In the following round, he lost to Walter Cheung.
