CODE OF CONDUCT - PARENTS, CARES & VOLUNTEERS

Parents and carers who support Salle Paul and our fencers are asked to encourage the highest standards of behaviour from those representing the club. We ask that you follow the British Fencing Code of Conduct for parents and carers, set out below.

The following code sets out the standards expected. A Salle Paul parent/carer/volunteer should…

1. Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their sport.

2. Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.

3. Always recognise when your child has done their best.

4. Encourage and help young fencers to take responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

5. Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.

6. Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performance of all.

7. Discourage unfair play.

8. Encourage your child to support other Salle Paul fencers at competitions and in the club.

9. Help to protect others involved in the game from verbal or physical abuse and other forms of threatening or intimidating behaviour such as bullying.

10. Publicly accept officials’ judgments.

11. Discourage arguing with officials and do not yourself argue, interfere with or attempt to intimidate other fencers, referees and other officials.

12. Do not act in a manner that would bring the club or sport into disrepute.

13. Use correct and proper language at all times.

14. Never force your child to take part in sport.

15. Never verbally or physically abuse your child for failure.

16. Be aware of safety in fencing; keep off the pistes during play and never cross other fencers’ pistes during fights. Wherever possible, help to keep visitors and spectators out of harm’s way.
