Ending the Year on a High: Bronze for Collis at the World Ability Sport Games

World Ability Sport Games

Gemma Collis competed in the World Ability Sport Games in Thailand, which doubled as an IWAS World Cup. She reached the semi finals in both cat A women's epee and cat A women's sabre, and took home two bronze medals.

Elite Epee Finals

Three Salle Paul epeeists were invited to the Elite Epee grand finals in Oundle. 

Kaeto Ngoka won four in her poule unique of eight. She defeated Marli Thompson in the last 8, then lost her semi final against Frankie Fowler. Xanthe Trim went won three and lost four in her poule. She won over Verena Chan in the round of 8, then was eliminated in the semi finals by Eliana Yunusi-Parikh. Solu Ngoka won six of seven poule bouts. He won against Ming Lok So and Lucas Farlam to reach the finals; his opponent Bintong Wang withdrew for medical reasons. 

Congratulations to Kaeto and Xanthe for their bronze medals, and Solu for his gold medal.

Cambridge Series


Three foilists competed in U14 boys. Tudor Prutica won five of six poule fights. He beat Stephen Wang, James Hernon, and Ron Law to make the semi finals where he was defeated, by Dominik Juras.

LPJS Academy Sabre

Three fencers from the Leon Paul academy competed in the LPJS hosted by Paul Davis Fencing Academy. 

Arthur Chen won eight matches out of ten across two rounds of poules. Two DE wins placed him in the semi finals, where he was eliminated by Bennett Joseph.

Matthew Yeremeyev won all nine of his poule matches. he received a bye through the 32, then won two DEs to reach the semi finals, where he was defeated by Edgar Aceves Bech.

Leon Paul Junior Womens Epee

Three junior epeeists competed in the women's epee BRC at the Leon Paul centre on Sunday. 

Zoya Suresh won eleven of twelve poule matches. Ranked first after poules, she received a bye through the first round of DEs. She then defeated Antonia Haynes, Maisie Everett, and Lauren Ryder Garcia to reach the final against Kseniya.

Kseniya Kushtan went eight and two in pools. She won her tableau matches against Annabelle Lavin, Grace O'Neill, Ellie Jackson, and Kate Haswell to make the finals against Zoya. 

Kseniya emerged victorious in the finals, winning the match 15-9.

Congratulations to Zoya for her silver medal, and Kseniya for winning the competition. Thanks to Oana and Sam for coaching at the competition,
