Salle Paul Cadets selected for Cadet Winton London 2017

Posted on October 23, 2017

Congratulations to Oliver Strange and Amelia Middleton for their selections to compete in the Cadet Winton London foil teams 2017.  Also selected is Charlotte Macey, recently of Salle Paul but now relocated to Salle Boston.

The Cadet Winton, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is a unique six weapon team event which takes place each year at Millfield School the weekend before Christmas.  The competition enables Cadets to compete against others from across the English regions, gaining valuable experience as they work together in their teams.  Fencers are selected from GB rankings.

Cadet Winton is named in memory of humanitarian Sir Nicholas Winton who organised the rescue of 669 children from Czechoslovakia on the eve of the Second World War. Sir Nicholas and his brother Bobby fenced for England.

We wish all the London fencers well for the competition and hope they will enjoy the weekend of fencing.
